Would you love to have a go at singing in a choir but have always been too nervous to try it? Or is that just me?!
Well Singing Mums could be the answer. It’s a relaxed, informal evening pop choir that’s just for Mums, aimed at having fun, socialising, harmonising but most importantly unwinding after a long day!
The choir is lead by Georgina Jakubiak, a Leeds based singer songwriter and teacher with over 15 years of singing and teaching experience. She originally set it up when her first son was a baby so she could still teach and take him to work. But over
time, she’s seen how the choir can make a real difference to it’s members too.
“The health benefits of singing as a form of therapy are incredible. Singing is known to release endorphins and decrease cortisol, the stress hormone, in your blood . And being a Mum can be very stressful!
At our rehearsals we don’t use sheet music, so you don’t need experience reading music. But we do sing in harmony parts and we do have a laugh. The idea is that everyone can join in, you don’t have to be an amazing singer but it will still sound good.
We sing classic pop and rock and some current chart hits. We also perform sometimes too.”
Singing Mums runs every Tuesday evening 7:30 – 9:00 term times in Horsforth. They’re always looking for new members, who can join at any time. If you’re interested in going along, or you’d like to book the choir for an event you can get in touch with Georgina at:
